People and Places features selections from the contemporary international photography collection of Wilson, North Carolina resident Allen Thomas, Jr., who is inarguably the most charming person I have ever encountered!  I have tremendous respect for his vision and am honored to be part of his incredible collection. 

This exhibition features sixty-eight art works ranging in scale from the intimate to the heroic, including such renowned artists as Tom Hunter, Sze Tsung Leong, Mona Kuhn, Simen Johan, Anthony Goicolea, Carlos Betancourt and Tseng Kwong Chi.

SCOPE  CELEBRATES  BANNER  YEAR  WITH  LAUNCH  OF  '08  AT  NEW  YORK'S  CULTURAL  ICON  LINCOLN CENTER

NEW YORK - Building on Miami’s overwhelming success, SCOPE launches its 2008 season with its flagship fair, SCOPE New York 08. SNY08, an invitation only edition of SCOPE art fairs, proudly returns to Manhattan’s most famous cultural icon, Lincoln Center, with a glass facade pavilion situated in Lincoln Center's Damrosch Park, at the corner of 62nd Street and 10th Avenue. SCOPE New York is just blocks from the Armory Show and serviced daily by shuttles and pedicabs.

Featuring galleries from four continents and 20 countries, including China, Mexico, Japan, Korea, Brazil, Italy, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Norway, Switzerland, Germany, UK, Spain, and Canada, SCOPE New York 2008’s 50 invitees will uphold its unique tradition of solo and thematic group shows presented alongside museum-quality programming, collector tours, screenings, and special events. The fair opens to press and VIP’s on Wednesday, March 26, 10am-5pm. General admission is $15.

Carlos Betancourt will install Re-Collections III during Art Basel Miami Beach 2007 in conjuction with Diana Lowenstein Fine Arts.  Re-Collections I is a floor installation consisting of thousands of vintage glass Christmas ornaments that the artist have been collecting for at least fifteen years. With this installation, the artist continues to explore with reflective objects,  glittered bravado and hidden sense of humor his concern with bridging the past with the future in a contemporary poetic setting.  The artist will also exhibit other recent artworks. In conjunction with Diana Lowenstein Fine Arts' participation at Art Basel Miami Beach, Carlos Betancourt has been invited by La Comunidad Agency to exhibit his installation, The Cut-Out Army. The artwork will be installed at the large warehouse of the future offices of La Comunidad Agency located in Wynwood Art District, from December 1 - 13, 2006.
