Art and food are coming together for the fifth year at the Orlando Museum of Art.
Delicious creations inspired by the artists featured in the Museum's Florida Prize in Contemporary Art will be available to try at a preview party on June 1 from 7-10 p.m. The local restaurants that will be making those dishes include: 1921 by Norman Van Aken, Artisan's Table, Arthur's Creative Events and Catering, Black Rooster Taqueria, Cuisiniers Catered Cuisine and Events, Dubsdread Catering, Jillycakes, K Restaurant, Kobé Ichiban Japanese Steakhouse, Orlandough Craft Donuts and Reyes Mezcaleria.
The artists include Carlos Betancourt, Brooks Dierdorff, Rafael Domenech, Gonzalo Fuenmayor, Ya Levy La'Ford, Jason Lazarus, Glexis Novoa, Kerry Phillips, Kenya (Robinson) and Jack Stenner. They were selected by the museum for their progressive art - "each are engaged in exploring significant issues of contemporary art and society in original and visually exciting ways," according to a news release from the Orlando Museum of Art.
Their artwork will be on display from June 2-Aug. 19. One artist will be receiving the Florida Prize - and a $20,000 award. The winner will be announced at the end of the preview party.
Tickets for the preview party are $30 for general admission and $50 for VIP admission (which also includes an extra hour in the party). Purchase them on EventBrite.com.
