Oolite Arts’ “It was Always About You… is an intimate celebration of a community of artists who have had a significant relationship with Oolite Arts over the course of its four decade history on Lincoln Road. Shepherded by a ceramic work from Oolite’s late founder Ellie Schneiderman, this show is scaled for an intimate viewing of each individual work. This exhibition includes the work of more than 40 artists, encompassing a wide range of practices and mediums. From flat visual works to sculpture pieces, mixed-media collages and short-form videos, our summer salon-style hang allows for the diverse entries to be viewed in conversation with one another. The gallery becomes a proxy for the many years of service to artists in our community, bringing them together to celebrate our lasting bond. “It Was Always About You…” reminds us that Oolite Arts has always put supporting artists first.

Join us for the opening of the exhibition July 12th 6 – 8 p.m. by registering here

Dennis Scholl is the president and CEO of Oolite Arts. A seasoned arts leader, Scholl oversaw a major expansion of Oolite Arts, creating holistic programming that elevates artists’ work at all stages of their careers through studio space, financial support and professional development. Before joining Oolite Arts, Scholl served as Vice President/Arts of the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, where he led the foundation’s national arts program, with grants to cultural organizations totaling close to $200 million. In 2022, Scholl and wife Debra were named as Members of the Order of Australia, one of the country’s highest honors, for their significant contributions to advancing and promoting indigenous Australian art and culture in the United States, after developing exhibitions of Aboriginal Australian contemporary art that traveled the U.S. As a documentary filmmaker focused on arts and culture, he has received 16 regional Emmys from the National Academy of Television Arts and Science. A visual artist with recent exhibitions in Madrid and Berlin, Scholl is preparing for upcoming solo exhibitions in France and the United Kingdom.
